Republicans Seek to Replace Filibuster With Drinking ContestMay 23, 2005
Washington, D.C.
Whit Pistol
A classic filibuster on the Senate floor, though judging by the awkward stance, a drinking contest also took place the night before.
W
ith the specter of the president's extreme right-wing judge appointments approaching, congressional Republicans, led by Bill "Not First" Frist, are seeking to eliminate the long-standing tradition of the filibuster. However, Senate Democrats are reluctant to give up their one means of making the president deal with their side, so Republicans are offering a juicier prize—exchanging the filibuster for a "last man standing" drinking contest.

The filibuster, sometimes described as a congressional loophole, has long been used as a negotiation tactic by the minority party in the Senate to stall controversial votes and force compromises to the table. The drinking contest, a long-time college and unemployment staple, has traditionally been used to test the mettle of men and women a...Read more...

The Boy Who Could Not Smell

Once upon a time there was an ecstatically happy couple named Bitrate and Sorma, who lived in the town of Ringbear near Norma. The town made a sound like a hub cap going round and round a banister not far from the stairs. Everyone who lived there was ecstatically happy, except for one young man, who was positively orgasmic.

The townspeople had been
so unbearably happy for so incredibly long
that they had literally forgotten
what it was like for life to go wrong.
They had completely forgotten what it was like
to eat too much ice cream too fast, or to crash on a bike.
To hit your funny bone on the oven, or to end up with a scar,
or to slam your tongue in the trunk of a car.
But unlike those ungrateful bastards over in Karam,
who forgot they were happy until snails ate the dam,
and the people were eaten by goats who came down from the hills,
and instead of water it rained three-dollar bills,
the people of Ringbear fully appreciated how good they had it.
That's why they were especially displeased
with Bitrate and Sorma
when everything went to shit.

One bright autumn day, on the sixth of September,
almost two months before the sixth of November,
Bitrate and Sorma had the wonderful idea.

The only way, they figured, that they could be merrier,
was if there were more of them (and not just the terrier).
So they set out to...Read more...

The Net Lacks Fake Nude Clarissa Coleman Pics

I've not had any luck finding much information about myself online. Ever since www.heresyourdaddy.com went defunct and website operator kittyfan became unreachable, the web has become a very barren place for Clarissa Coleman information. Sure, I can find some Who's Your Daddy episode guide information on some lame websites, but none of them have ever kept current information about yours truly and a lot of them continue to spread that vicious urban legend that I was killed by Son of Sam, even though his murder spree was about 3 or 4 years before our show even came on. Believe it or not, I haven't even found anything on the commune, so if you're reading this it's by fate or luck or the grace of God or you surely must be part of some marketing audience or something.

I got desperate enough for some word, any word of me online that I did a search for "clarissa coleman nude" and, with baited breath, awaited the search results. You believe nothing?!? I mean, come on! It's not like I ever posed for any nude photographs or anything, but aren't there legions of internet weirdoes out there cutting and pasting heads onto bodies just for larks or fetish purposes? I swear I went to one site and saw the head of Benji on Charlize Theron's topless body. Don't I rate like Benji?

I would say I have fairly realistic goals. I'm not trying to compete with Alyssa Milano, I know she's the queen of nude internet searches, and I let her have that. I'm not asking to challenge...Read more...

Nobody loves you anywhere near as much as your mother, but the bad news is you were adopted and never met her. Your "Most Favored Nathan" status will be revoked this week when a more-favorable Nathan arrives in town. Sorry. Try to start flossing your teeth, crotch and armpits, ASAP. This week's lucky bullets: zingers, greenies, pissmakers, Big Bens, deconstipators, "lead flapjacks," armor-piercing, elephant piercing, Ella Fitzgerald-piercing.

Blown by the Sun
The night air like a cheese, perfumed with sea water
A blocky, leaky, laggy cheese coating us all
We the three of us tramp through Panama City
Selling fake insurance policies for a dollar to
The tourists

The cops roust us here and there, upon catching sight of seersucker suits
A tighty, sticky, stocky kind of faded brown material
Each of us is having the time of his life, or the other's
Our last night in this foreign city before we ship out
To Vietnam

I remember the fire-hanging hair, weaved together on the head
Of the bouncy, busty, bubbling night club stripper
She seemed as if I had known her a dozen years or more
Like I'm the kind of person who would forget my
Own sister
