It was used in OATMB ("UPS fashions of the FUTURE!!!" among others), but I think this might be even older than MST3K.  I seem to recall this was a phrase used often in those old industrial and "educational" shorts ("Design for Dreaming," for example) where they talked about how we'd all have push-button kitchens and flying cars and robot maids and how great everything was going to be, as long as you were white and rich.
