This is a gag that appears anytime you see something in a space or futuristic setting. It is sort of an off shoot of the ...OF THE FUTURE gag. Often the ....IN SPACE is streatched out much like the voiceover announcer would do in "The Muppet Show" skit, "Pigs In Space".
