Revision as of 00:13, 11 December 2006

Started during a capping session for some infomercial for a cleaning product on the Sci-Fi Channel during the early days of Caption This. Someone said the soap was strong enough to be used for the United States scorched earth policy. WEIRD_1 called the soap "Napalm Bright".

Soon, any screengrab that featured soap would feature the "Napalm Bright" label. Also, any caption that featured fire, bright light or black screengrabs would be included in this thread. Example: during a screengrab freeze of a black window, JoeCrow placed the caption: "What this grab needs is a vat of Napalm Bright."

In a case of either mistaken memory or eerie capper serendipity, Jazzsoda also remembers creating this thread in early 1997, though in late-night circles it was known as Napalm Brite. The late-night variant mainly revolved around people (often the spaced-out Quick 'n Brite infomercial host himself) accidentally ingesting Napalm Brite and suffering the consequences.

Napalm Bright/Brite may have been inspired in turn by "Napalmolive," a short skit about an especially effective cleaning product, written and performed by The Firesign Theatre.

Don't worry folks, my skin's always done that, every since I found my first tub of Napalm-Brite in a deserted underground military bunker! Cleans up in a Jiff!

Note: WEIRD_1 would like to state that it is 165% possible that he may have a fuzzy memory about Napalm Brite aka Napalm Bright... I don't wish to claim anything that may belong to Jazzsoda.
