"Caption This!" is one of the many fine activities available at The SciFi Channel's website. It was created to give us, the common people, the chance to mock movies and television just like our heroes, the hosts of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The website grabs a shot from whatever is playing on the channel at that moment and puts it up for us to ridicule.
I'm not as into it now as I was in the beginning, but neither am I willing to totally give it up. It's gone from being a primary laugh-giver to being a chuckle now and then.
About half of the captions in Gallery 1 are brand-spankin' new; the other half were collected over the past few months, between the last update and now. A lot of them are mine--when I'm in a bad mood, the only stuff I think is funny is my own, and thus it's the only stuff I save.

I originally created the Archive to be used as a research tool or a memory jogger for experienced cappers--"What was it that AgentQ said about Carleton Sheets? Hmmm, I'll check the Archive"--but the diligent newcomer should be able to reap rewarding laughter from it as well.
If I ever decide to actually work on this page, the formerly-new captions will be added to the beginning of the Archive pages and I'll remove an equivalent number of old captions, starting with the weak and the lame. If I at any time remove a caption that you particularly loved, or if you're not satisfied with the Archive and want some of my original files, feel free to mail me (gill0042@tc.umn.edu) and we'll work something out--a special page for your favorites, a new Archive page, or however you'd like it done.
